Artist's Statement
As long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by the ocean.When I was about five years old I saw it for the first time and I was overwhelmed. I never imagined anything could be that vast. This feeling never changed.
In my paintings there are hardly any traces of human beings. Every now and then I give it a try, but they never make it to the finished work. I don’t know why exactly, but maybe it’s because the painting gets to narrative and that distracts attention from what I want: the illusion of space and light.”

Description 
I painted this one in January/February 2013, and I was filmed while doing it. In the beginning it felt a bit uneasy, to have a camera follow every move I made, but after a while I got used to it and the painting process pretty much went it’s own way, including a few decisions that didn’t turn out like I thought they would.
